KPK TUTORING

My Methodology

I have been working as an individual Tutor and Mentor since 2009. During this time, I have had the pleasure to work with students from various backgrounds from across the world (Europe, Africa, China and Australia to name a few), ages (11+, GCSE, A-level, University and Masters) and needs (for example, SEND students).

I have experience working at a recovery centre, where I supported students in recovery with SEND needs. I have worked as a freelance tutor for eight tutoring companies and I have taught at university level (please let me know if you would like more information). I set up and developed my own tutoring services in 2018.

My approach to tutoring and mentoring any student is an holistic one. Each student learns in their own way and I like to work with the student at their pace to find the best way for them to learn. This helps them develop tools and skills that are unique to them and will be useful transferable skills across all aspects of their lives.

I offer one-to-one tutoring and home-schooling programmes. My tutoring background covers a range of subjects, including the Arts (to Masters level), English (Literature and Language to A-level), Maths (to GCSE), Sciences (to GCSE), and the Humanities. I have also helped students who needed support with Elocution, Apprenticeship Studies and Work Experience.

I specialise in supporting SEN and EAL students. Being dyslexic myself, I can understand and provide the additional support that a student who is SEN will need. For example, creating a visually exciting programme of study, learning to allocate time for breaks or talking through any issues that have arisen with their studies and working with the student to find a healthy, educational solution.

Each student has surpassed their own expectations of what they could achieve, with some students going from receiving Cs and Ds to As and Bs. I really enjoy being able to help SEN and EAL students find their own way to learn and gain confidence.

I aim to create an environment that is support and encouraging, with kind and thoughtful communication being reciprocal.

I have experience of a range of UK based exam boards, including AQA and Edexcel.

I have helped 11+ students work towards their tests and be accepted to schools like Charterhouse School, Eton College, Radley College, Winchester College, Bradfield and Marlborough.

I have also support A-level students to write and complete successful University applications. Past s tudents have been accepted to Cambridge, Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, Slade, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Oxford Brooks, Goldsmiths, CalArts USA and Parsons to name a few.

What is a holistic approach to tutoring?

Within each of my classes, I encourage all my students to be curious, to ask questions about the topics we are covering and to explore subjects that overlap. To help each student reach their individual potential it is also important to acknowledge and support their emotional (stress and anxiety management), physical (wellbeing and exercise), social (family and social life), environmental (diet and exercise), occupational (work/life balance), spiritual (breathing exercises and short meditations) and intellectual needs. When creating timetables for each student I will allocate time for independent study (this will be different for each student and will be tailored to when they are able to focus best), as well as breaks, social time with friends, exercise slots and reoccurring daily meal slots. For students who find it hard to manage their time or feel stressed when they have to keep to time slots, alarms will be set for each event.

Parent’s Involvement

To help with the smooth running of sessions it is vital that all parents are engaged in their child’s education. Each child flourishes when they feel supported.

My Educational Experience:

I graduated from Central St. Martins in 2010 (studying Sculpture) and from the Ceramics & Glass Masters programme at The Royal College of Art in 2015.

Assessment Process:

Before we book in any regular sessions I like to book an Initial Chat over zoom that last for 30 minutes. This is a great way for us to meet, for you to ask any questions you may have, discuss what you would like to achieve and set goals. The Initial Chat is charged at half the hourly rate.

(Please note:  I do not offer free consultations or any other options to the one listed above.)

My tutoring days:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings.

(Please note: I run a first come first serve service for session booking.)

How many sessions per month can I book?

A minimum of 1 hour per week must be booked. If you are looking to book irregular slots, please let me know, if I have availability I might be able to offer this option.

Where do sessions take place:

All sessions will be taking place on Zoom, or at my London studio for art subjects on Saturdays. If you are looking for in-person tuition, I would be able to offer in person sessions if you live within walking distance.

My hourly rates are:

Year 9: £55 per/hr

GCSE: £60 per/hr

A-LEVEL: £65 per/hr

Art Portfolio Preparation for University: £70 per/hr

University: £75 per/hr

Masters: £80 per/hr

Mature Students: £80 per/hr

Please note: I only take on new students who are looking for weekly tuition with a minimum of 1 hour per session, unless otherwise discussed.

Payment Method:

I am based in the UK and usually take payment via Bank Transfer, but if you do not have a UK bank account I would recommend paying via PayPal. We can discuss payment options.
